Chicago, Ill.I love big cities. So when I found out I would be going to Chicago for the Association of Midwest Museums’ 2018 conference, I was very excited.
Of course I did some exploring of my own, but that did not compare to the field trips Erin (author of the previous post) and I got to go on as part of the conference.

Albion, INd.Growing up, Memorial Day weekend camping was an annual activity for my family. Yet as my siblings and I grew older the tradition faded. Years later as my brothers and I found ourselves settled into our adult lives, our homes, and our own families, the call to reinstate our Memorial Day weekends sounded.
Zionsville, Ind.Tucked away in an industrial park, connected to Fanimation, is the AFCA Antique Fan Museum. The museum was brought to Indianapolis by Tom Frampton, the owner and founder of Fanimation, and currently displays upward of 2,000 fans. The two-story museum displays both antique and vintage fans.
According to Fan Restorer and Assistant Curator Kim Frank, the museum is for anybody who appreciates early electrical appliances. The museum showcases fans from all around the world, CArmel, Ind.In the Arts and Design District, right off Main street, sits the Museum of Miniature Houses and Other Collections Inc. Founded by Suzanne Landshof, Nancy Lesh and Suzzie Moffett in 1993, it is one of only five museums in the nation dedicated to miniatures.
The museum includes about 30 miniature houses and 50 room boxes. Some pieces are based on story books, some come from the artists imagination, and other are replicas of existing structures. Indianapolis, Ind.Located in White River State Park, off the Downtown Canal Walk, is the NCAA Hall of Champions. When Indianapolis won the bid to become the new location of the NCAA National Headquarters, having a visitors’ experience was an important piece of the deal. As a result, the Hall of Champions opened in March of 2000. This interactive museum allows visitors to learn about the amazing feats of and opportunities for college athletes through hands on exhibits and activities.
